Here at Definity Medspa we use the latest FDA approved laser technology to provide an effective treatment for many types of facial and leg veins, including both shallow spider veins and reticular veins.
Spider veins (telangiectasia) are red, blue or purple veins that appear near the skin surface. They are caused by dilation of the vessels and the weakening of the valves in the vessels which causes blood to pool in the vein rather than flowing through it. Spider veins can appear for a number of reasons including sun exposure, hormone therapy, use of oral contraceptives, inherited factors, leg injury, prolonged standing and the aging process.
Reticular veins are small blue veins which, although larger than spider veins, are not raised like varicose veins. (Please note that varicose veins cannot be treated with our system).
We use advanced laser technology to safely and effectively treat leg veins as well as those which may be visible on the face, neck and chest. A powerful burst of laser light selectively coagulates the problem veins without affecting the surrounding area. The veins then shrink and become less visible.
The treatment is non-invasive - there are no needles and no incisions - and you can resume all normal activities right after your treatment.
The laser treatment lasts for fifteen to twenty minutes, depending on the number of veins to be treated. Results are seen within three to four weeks.
Depending on the severity of the veins we will generally recommend between two and five treatments but the majority of patients will see an improvement even after the first treatment.
Some patients may experience redness, swelling or bruising which will usually subside after a few days.
